Reviews from the Jeju Branch of Now Medi Clinic: A firsthand experience of medical beauty treatments during a vacation on Jeju Island – a detailed account of the environment and the reservation process

🏝️ First-hand experience at Medi Clinic Jeju Branch: Is medical beauty treatment during a vacation on Jeju Island really worth the trip?

“Are the clinics on Jeju Island reliable?” “What is Now Medi exactly?” I asked myself these questions many times before setting off. After all, there are so many options for cosmetic treatments in Seoul – why go all the way to Jeju Island?

The answer is: Because Jeju Island represents visa-free vacations and the opportunity to improve one’s appearance. For Taiwanese people, a flight from Taoyuan to Jeju Island takes only 1.5 hours, and the visa exemption lasts for 30 days. The ticket price, including taxes, ranges from 3,000 to 5,000 Taiwan dollars. If Jeju Island is already part of your travel plan, why not take the opportunity to get a hyaluronic acid injection or a “black box” treatment while you’re there?

This is my detailed review of the actual experience at Now Medi Clinic’s Jeju Branch. 📱 If you want to make an appointment with Now Medi, add me on WeChat at s-sourire; I can help you arrange it and confirm the translation time as well as any package discounts available.

Now Medi is a chain Dermatology brand based in Seoul, with its Jeju branch opening in 2025. While there are several branches in Seoul, Jeju is the only one located on an island. Although the scale of the Jeju branch is smaller than that of the Seoul branches, the equipment and physicians are all dispatched from the head office, ensuring the same high quality of services.

Environment of Now Medi Clinic’s Jeju Island branch

💆‍♀️ Record of in-person consultation and treatment: Overall experience rated 8/10

I booked a package that includes glow injections and Rejuran PN. Here is the procedure on the day of the consultation:

  1. 📋 Fill out the questionnaire: There is a Chinese version available, covering basic health information and any history of allergies.
  2. 🔬 Skin analysis: Use a skin analyzer to examine Pores, spots, and moisture levels.
  3. 👨‍⚕️ Doctor’s consultation: The hospital director personally conducted the consultation and recommended that I first undergo hyaluronic acid treatment before having the “black box” procedure.
  4. 💉 Anesthesia application: After 30 minutes, the nurse thoughtfully adjusted the room temperature for me (to ensure I wouldn’t feel cold).
  5. 💉 Hyaluronic acid injections: Treatment is performed using the DermaShine device for approximately 15 minutes; the pain level is rated at 2/10.
  6. 💉 Black box procedure: Performed manually by the clinic director; took approximately 20 minutes. The pain level was rated at 3-4 out of 10, with the effects being more noticeable in the area near the jawline.
  7. 🧊 Ice compress: Apply for 15 minutes, followed by the use of post-surgery repair cream and a soothing facial mask.

The entire process took approximately 2.5 hours. The director was very skilled at performing this procedure; I only developed two small bruises, which disappeared within 2 days.

⚠️ The only minor drawback: The Chinese translator on that day was a part-time employee, and the medical terminology was not translated very accurately. However, communication was generally unproblematic. If your Korean or English skills are decent, it is recommended that you communicate directly with the doctor; translation can serve only as an auxiliary tool.

🏝️ Recommendations for restaurants and accommodations in Jeju Island

After undergoing cosmetic procedures, it’s important to spend a few days on Jeju Island, where both food and accommodation are of high quality. Here are my recommendations:

🍔 Restaurant recommendations:

  • 🐔 Heitoun City: The must-try black pork barbecue on Jeju Island. One portion costs ₩12,000–15,000, and it can be enjoyed with rice wine (maegli), which is absolutely delicious!
  • 🍜 Ginseng chicken soup shops: There are several such places in Yeondong. I recommend “Jeju Ginseng Chicken Soup” – one pot costs ₩15,000, and it’s perfect for both beauty and health after consumption.
  • 🍞 Just like the convenient coffee shops: these stunning seaside cafes are perfect places to visit and take photos, especially when you need to wear a hat after the procedure.

🏨 Accommodation recommendations:

  • 🏨 Jinzhou Best Western Hotel (Liandong): It takes only 5 minutes to walk from here to Now Medi. The price for a double room ranges from approximately ₩80,000 to ₩120,000 per night.
  • 🏨 Jinzhou Myth Hotel (New Jeju): Located near the airport, it is ideal for staying on the last night before your departure. Free airport shuttle service is available.
  • 🏠 Airbnb Homestays: If you enjoy experiencing the local lifestyle of South Korea, there are many clean homestays available in the Yeon-dong and Old Jeju areas, ranging in price from ₩40,000 to ₩80,000 per night.

💡 Tip: Staying in Liandong is the most convenient option – clinics, Olive Young, and restaurants are all within walking distance, so you won’t have to travel far after your treatment.

📱 How to Make an Appointment at Now Medi in Jeju: Making an appointment at the Now Medi branch in Jeju is much easier than at the main office in Seoul; it is usually possible to get a slot 2-3 days in advance. However, if you require translation services in Chinese, it is recommended to book an appointment 1 week in advance. Adding WeChat friend s-sourire can help arrange the translation and confirm the doctor’s schedule.

💡 Guide to Duty-Free Shops on Jeju Island: After undergoing cosmetic procedures, visiting duty-free shops is part of many people’s itineraries. There are two major duty-free shops on Jeju Island:

  • 🛍️ Lotte Duty Free Shop (Liantong): It takes only 10 minutes to walk from here to Now Medi, and it offers the widest range of brands available.
  • 🛍️ Silla Duty-Free Shop (Chinese-speaking area): Free shuttle service is available, and the discounts offered are even more substantial.

⚠️ Note: To make purchases at duty-free shops, you will need your passport and a round-trip flight ticket. It is recommended to store your passport and electronic ticket on your mobile phone and present them during checkout. Additionally, there are two ways to collect your items at duty-free shops: either at the airport or in the city center. Collecting your items at the airport eliminates the hassle of carrying heavy bags around while shopping.

🏨 In summary, the advantage of undergoing cosmetic procedures on Jeju Island is that it allows you to combine a vacation with beauty treatments in one go. However, the range of available treatments is limited compared to Seoul. If you are already planning to visit Jeju Island and want to take advantage of opportunities such as hyaluronic acid injections or “black box” treatments, it is definitely a great deal. On the other hand, if you are flying to Jeju specifically for cosmetic procedures, Seoul offers a much wider and more sophisticated selection of options.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions about Medi Jeju

Q: Is the quality of the Jeju branch the same as that of the Seoul head office?
A: The doctors a

re assigned from the head office, so the quality is guaranteed. However, the range of equipment available at the Jeju branch is somewhat limited compared to the head office; for advanced treatments, it is necessary to confirm in advance.

Q: Can I go to the beach on the same day after the procedure
?
A: It is not recommended. After the surgery, the skin is very sensitive to ultraviolet rays, so going to the beach may cause the skin to darken. It is advised to wait at least 2 days before engaging in outdoor activities.

Q: What should I bring for the consultation?
A: A pas

sport for identity verification, any previous records of medical beauty treatments you have had (if any), and you should come without makeup. We will help you remove your makeup and clean your face before the consultation.

🚗 Renting a car in Jeju Island vs using public transportation: If your itinerary includes visiting scenic spots around the island (such as Seongsan Sunrise Peak, Udo Island, Hanlin Park, etc.), it is highly recommended to rent a car. In Jeju Island, there are few bus services and the route coverage is limited, so using public transportation can be very time-consuming. Renting a Kcar for one day costs approximately ₩40,000–₩6,000, and the fuel cost is additional, ranging from ₩10,000–₩2,000 per day. If your trip is short and mainly focuses on shopping in the Yeondong area, you may not need to rent a car; taxis and walking will suffice.

📱 How to make an appointment with Now Medi: The Jiuzhou branch of Now Medi allows appointments to be made through its official website, telephone, or KakaoTalk. However, if you need Chinese-language assistance, it is recommended to make an appointment via WeChat at s-sourire; they will help you confirm the appropriate time for the translation service. After making an appointment, you will receive a confirmation message in Korean, which includes a map and address. Upon arriving at Jiuzhou Airport, simply show the driver this message to take you to the location.
