Last month, I finally made it to the much-anticipated Jionu Dermatology in Cheongdam Dong to experience their signature treatment—Titanium Lifting. To be honest, before going there, I did a lot of research, browsing through Dcard, Instagram, and REDnote, where almost every post praised Dr. Jin’s skills. But when I actually lay down on the treatment bed, my heart still raced a bit.
Why choose Jionu? Because my face has been asymmetrical for a long time – the left jawline is softer, so I always have to use certain angles when taking photos to compensate for it. I tried Thermage; it worked, but the results didn’t last as long as I expected. I also had ultrasound surgery, which was so painful that I wanted to cry, and my face swelled for a whole week. It wasn’t until I saw the results of Director Jin’s “three-wavelength sliding treatment” that I decided to give myself another chance.

👨⚕️ Director Jin’s background
President Kim has over 15 years of experience in the field of Dermatology. He initially received formal training in the Dermatology department at Seoul National University Hospital and later specialized in anti-aging treatments and contour restoration. His most renowned achievement is the “three-wavelength sliding technique” that he developed himself – rather than applying energy at a fixed depth, this technique adjusts the wavelength and intensity layer by layer according to the different fat thicknesses and skin elasticity of each individual’s facial areas.
Sounds very professional, right? Simply put: apply the Titanium Lifting treatment more deeply in areas where the skin is thicker and less deeply in areas where it is thinner, rather than applying it uniformly across the entire face. This is precisely why, when people undergo Titanium Lifting, the results can vary greatly, with some appearing more natural while others looking more like a mask.

🔬 What exactly is President Jin’s “three-wavelength” Titanium Lifting technique?
💡 What is Titanium Lifting?
Titanium Lifting is a non-invasive/minimally invasive contouring treatment that has become very popular in South Korea in the past two years. It uses energy of specific wavelengths to act layer by layer, from the dermis to the fascia, achieving three effects simultaneously: tightening, lifting, and promoting tissue regeneration. Compared to Thermage, Titanium Lifting causes less pain and has a shorter recovery period; whereas compared to ultrasound scalpels, it offers more precise control over the applied energy, reducing the risk of burns.
⚡ The exclusive secrets of the three-wavelength sliding technique
In general, Titanium Lifting procedures involve using a single wavelength to treat the entire face, but Director Jin’s approach is different:
- First wavelength (superficial layer): Targets the epidermis and upper dermis, helping to reduce fine lines, Pores, and uneven skin tone.
- Second wavelength (mid-layer): Targets the dermis, stimulates the regeneration of Collagen, and makes the skin more elastic.
- Third wavelength (deep layer): Targets the SMAS layer, effectively lifting the lower jaw line and shaping the Apple Zone.
Moreover, the “sliding delivery method” means that the probe moves back and forth across the face while emitting energy, rather than delivering it in a spot-specific manner. The advantage of this approach is that the energy is distributed evenly, preventing any one area from receiving too much intensity and causing indentations, while also ensuring that no areas are left un-treated.
🎯 Who is this suitable for?
Based on my experience during the consultation at Jionu Dermatology, Titanium Lifting is particularly suitable for the following groups of people:
- For those whose mandibular line is not well-defined and who suffer from a Double Chin
- The face begins to show signs of sagging (this usually starts to occur gradually after the age of 25).
- Those who are afraid of pain and too hesitant to undergo surgical facelifts
- Those who have previously undergone Thermage treatment but feel that the results are not significant enough
- Those who hope for a short recovery period and can return to work or school normally after the procedure.
💆 My personal experience: from the initial consultation to the post-operative period
📋 Step 1: In-person consultation (about 30 minutes)
Upon arriving at Jionu Dermatology in Cheongdam, I first filled out a basic information form, and then a nurse took me to see Director Kim. Director Kim was actually much more approachable in person than he appeared in the photos; he didn’t have that aloof, professional demeanor typical of some doctors.
He used an instrument similar to a magnifying glass to examine my face carefully, and then pointed out directly: “The fat on the right side of your lower jaw line is about 2 mm thicker than on the left side, so it looks asymmetrical. Moreover, since you are used to chewing with your right side, your Masseter muscle is also more developed.”
My god, even the chewing habits can be detected! I really have to admit how impressive this observation skills are.
Then, Director Jin explained his treatment plan: In my case, there is no need to treat the entire face; the focus should be on the jawline and the Apple Zone, which takes approximately 40 to 50 minutes in total. He also drew a sketch to show me which wavelength and number of pulses would be used for each area. This level of transparency really reassured me.
🔧 Step 2: Preparation (about 15 minutes)
After the consultation to finalize the treatment plan, the nurse took me to the treatment room. The process was as follows:
- Remove makeup (if you have applied any).
- Facial cleansing + basic skincare
- Apply the numbing ointment and let it sit on for approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
- President Jin confirmed the location of the marker once again.
It is worth mentioning that the treatment room at Jionu is very comfortable – the beds are extremely cozy, and there is even music available for patients to listen to. The nurses take the initiative to ask whether you would like some water or if the blanket is warm enough; the attention to detail in their service is truly commendable.
⚡ Step 3: Formal treatment (approximately 45 minutes)
Now comes the real highlight. Let me be honest and admit the pain first:
- First wavelength (surface layer): It feels like having a rubber band snap against your face, but it’s completely tolerable 👍
- Second wavelength (mid-layer): You begin to feel a slight stinging or swelling sensation, similar to the feeling of having your flesh twisted or squeezed 😅
- Third wavelength (deep layer): There will be a noticeable soreness in the area of the jawline, but each episode lasts only a few hundredths of a second 🥴
Throughout the entire process, I didn’t ask for a pause, nor was there any need for additional anesthetics. Director Jin kept chatting with me while performing the procedure to distract my attention and would also let me know what stage the treatment had reached, saying things like “You might feel a bit sore here—just hold on a moment.” Such immediate communication is truly crucial; at least it helps me stay mentally prepared and avoid panicking.
😴 Step 4: Immediately after the procedure
Immediately look in the mirror after the treatment – to be honest, you can already see the results right away. The lower jaw line on the left side has become significantly tighter than before the treatment, and the overall contours of the face have become clearer. It’s not an exaggerated change, but when you look in the mirror, you’ll feel like “Hm? Something seems different, but I can’t quite tell what exactly.” It’s a very natural effect.
My face turned slightly red, similar to the effect of sunburn. After applying the repair mask for 15 minutes, most of the redness disappeared. Director Jin explained the post-operative precautions to me, and the nurse gave me a small pack of repair cream.
📅 Post-treatment recovery & follow-up
🗓️ First week
- Days 1–2: Slight swelling; pressing on the affected area causes some discomfort. Applying ice packs is very helpful.
- Days 3–4: The swelling subsides, and I begin to notice a tight feeling in my face (as the Collagen is proliferating).
- Days 5 to 7: Friends noticed me and asked if I had lost weight – actually, no; it’s just that my jawline has become more defined.
🗓️ Week 2 to 1 month
From the second week onward, the effects became increasingly noticeable. Since the proliferation of Collagen takes time, the Titanium Lifting procedure offered by Jionu Dermatology does not achieve its maximum effect immediately after the treatment; instead, the results continue to improve over 2 to 4 weeks after the surgery. By the fourth week, I took a before-and-after photo and noticed that the asymmetry between my left and right sides of the face had improved by at least 60%.
What surprised me the most was the change in my skin tone. Since the first wavelength has a whitening effect, the dullness on my face actually improved too! It was like undergoing a treatment that solved both the problems of my skin texture and tone at the same time – really a great deal for the price.

- The pain is within an acceptable range, and the entire procedure takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.
- Proper follow-up was conducted after the procedure; three days later, a LINE message was sent to inquire about the recovery progress.
- The environment is clean and comfortable, with excellent privacy.
⚠️ Matters that require attention
- The prices are on the mid-to-high end; it’s not the cheapest option available.
- Reservations are in high demand, especially during weekends; it is recommended to book at least two weeks in advance.
- English communication is possible, but for Chinese, translation software or booking intermediaries are necessary.
🔄 Comparison with other clinics
In addition to Cheongdam-dong Jionu Dermatology, I also consulted two other clinics that offer Titanium Lifting services for your reference:
- Barog Dermatology (Gangnam): An established clinic with slightly lower prices, but longer waiting times.
- Gangnam Clinic: Specializes in minor adjustments using Filler; Titanium Lifting is not its main focus. The equipment is relatively new, but the clinic director lacks the extensive experience of Director Jin.
Overall, if you, like me, are troubled by asymmetrical facial contours or a loose jawline, Dr. Kim’s Titanium Lifting procedure is definitely worth considering. The quality of this technique is truly outstanding; I would give myself an 85 out of 100 for this experience at Cheongdam!
